There are two types of wolves in North America - the red wolf and the gray wolf. Gray wolves are larger than red wolves and have thicker hair. All red wolves have red hair. The hair of gray wolves can be different colours – gray, black, white, brown, and golden. Usually, gray wolves are brown with bands of black, white, gold, and brown. Adult male wolves are heavier and larger than adult female wolves but both males and females have similar colouring.
